The Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts
and her fashion conspiracy:
gray is the new red.

Muted gray is a perfect alternative
to the conventional
Valentine color scheme.

Here are the details:

The original choice of black ribbon is more
Halloween than Valentine,
and not wanting another store run,
all the ribbons:
the bow,
and the ribbons for the
 hanging hearts and glasses,
are doused in black and then gray.

The hearts are also painted in black
before the the final gray hue.

Originally, the LOVE stands
are a shiny hot pink color.

The place card holders
are swirled with
strokes of gray and white.
Each card contains a question,
offering discussion, humor and unity to the table.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day!

Xs and Os.

It's another White-Out Party.
Grab a brush and let's get this party started!

Take a pile of hearts,
letters, twig napkin rings, chargers,
heart wreaths, candleholders, a wooden box
and paint everything.

Choose hearts with texture
for an easier paint application.
The hearts on the miniature plate
(out of view)
and the large heart on each plate are smooth plastic (ugh)
and need more attention.
The chargers have two sides...
a (painted) white and beige.
The beige is seen in the SPRING post.
Click above
for more details.

The bumble bee goblets
sit atop each plate with a sheer bow.
The large hearts are Valentine candy holders
 purchased last year.
Where are they this season?!
I'd love a few more.

The tiny plastic hearts are on the far left
under the confetti.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Before you go,
this photo is from my Instagram
and a DIY egg preview for an
 Easter tablescape.

Here are the easy directions:
Paint the eggs in green-gold.
Use a glue gun to create a design.
Paint the design gold.

Pom Pom Party

to the
DIY White-Out.

   The paint is slathered
on the clock, candleholders,
wooden balls, candles
(yep, I don't light these)
and the driftwood...we know are actually
Pebbles' and Bamm Bamm's hair accessory: bones on a string.

The crowning opus
is the one loop crochet chain...
no hook required so don't look too closely.

It's a monochromatic parade.

The before and after.

And now for the
Manly Men

Did someone say plaid?
Ay, that fierce fabric worn by the likes of
Wallace, Bruce and the men of the
Burns' classic poem:
"Scots Wha Hae!"

Grab a wee bit of tartan,
lads, and's tae ye!

The plaid charger is a DIY
fabric and Mod Podge item.
Thanks for the visit!

                                         Well, sure.
It's not quite March 20th, but we're getting closer!

My number one pick for table linens
 is found in
Mr. McGregor's woodshed.
Drop cloth!
Yep, tablecloth and napkins.

The natural fabric and organic texture
are perfect for either a casual or elegant setting
and don't forget bleaching as an option for a white
Valentine's Day table.

And because we're all a little meloncholy that the
happy Christmas decor is now packed away,
here's a view of
Christmas past...

The Nutcracker SWEET. salt and feathers.

Who's the ravenous shopper who bought all the white wreaths?!
I had to dip into my kindergarten craft skills
and use the big girl scissors to cut my way out of a bag...
white kitchen garbage bag to be exact.
Bag ladies, unite!

Born to the House of David,
He now awaits a singular dinner party with all the world.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock;
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him and will sup with him,
and he with me."
Rev 3:20

Is He a Christian or a Jew?
All the answers to all the possibilities
form the details
 to perfect evening....
a dinner party
etched in colloquy.

Before and after:

The 3 pieces were painted black and dry brushed in silver.

New Year's Eve Celebration

to our happiness and what lies ahead...
then let's smash the glasses in the fireplace."
